The Costa Blanca is an area of mountainous regions, valleys and plains. The proximity of the mountains to the coast means they are not particularly high, and there are some magnificent cliffs reaching down to the sea.

Geographically speaking the Costa Blanca forms part of the Subbetico range which extends from Andalucia to as far as the Cabo la Nao in Javea. The most important range within this can be found in the Costa Blanca and is Aitana whose highest peak is Aitana (1.555 metres height).

Other peaks which stand out are the Montgó (Denia-Javea. 753 metres) whose importance is relevant for the natural park on its slopes, with its great treasure of fauna and flora. Unfortunately in the last few years the Montgó has suffered a number of forest fires which has endangered its natural beauty, however one can still enjoy this wonderful jewel of nature. If you decide to pay it a visit, the numerous caves are worth investigating. Access is easy and the routes are well marked out.
Other places of ecological interest are:

-La Font Roja d'Alcoi, a natural park of some 2450 acres.
- El Peñon de Ifach.
- Las Salinas de Santa Pola.
- La Marjar de Pego.
- etc.

Going inland there are few high peaks, but there are valleys full of trees and bushes with extraordinary views of the coast. You can also enjoy some beautiful walks in these valleys, with well marked routes. You can also visit old villages among these valleys and breath their pure air.

For certain if you have any knowledge of the history of our country, these lands will remind you have the age of the Reconquist., as it was here that the Moslems offered most resistance and where there are more signs of their time spent in the Costa Blanca.
